Miden in the Carson valley, founded in 1905, on place of Dunberg family ranch is called a child of V & T Railroad. Dunbergs, from the German Minden, gave a permission to build a railway track and a depot on their land. This literally saved V & T Railroad Co. from imminent bankruptcy. As an expression of gratitude the new town was named Minden.

For many years the main branches of industry for Minden and its vicinity were agriculture and tourism. The tourists were attracted to Taho Lake and several historical sights preserved from the time of the first settlers. Little Minden, the seat of a little Douglas county, would remain in obscurity if Bently corporation (Now Bently Nevada Corp.), a worldwide leader in vibro-monitoring and vibro-diagnosis systems, hadn’t moved its headquarters over here in 1964. In such a way Minden became a part of hi-tech and is well known far outside Nevada and the United States.
