Atascadero

A small town on the banks of Salinas River, part of San Luis Obispo - Paso Robles metropolis. Like many other towns in South California Atascadero was built on a place of former Mexican rancho. It was founded by Edward Lewis in 1913 and was intended to be a small exemplary town. But after the town founder and patron went bankrupt it decayed and began to grow again in later fifties of the XXth century when a state hospital was built.

America would not be America and California would not be California, if even such a small town didn’t have some sights. You can those here as well - a zoo, a museum of history and a popular golf club located at the basement of a Chalk Mountain.
